John's mum and partner retired to live in a tiny village in central Portugal some years ago. This is quite common
for Brits to do because the EC makes settling anywhere quite easy. We've visited the country three times. The
most recent visit was summer 2007 when, for a change, we decided to meet her in Lisbon and see something of the
