  High Point:
The friendliness of the couple who, in their pajamas, opened their campsite to us.
Low Point:
Thinking we were clever by parking at a department store only to find you had to pay anyway.
Itinerary:
Mori no Kuni Campsite »  Matsue Castle »  Lafcadio Hearn Museum »  Yakumo-an Noodle Restaurant »  Samurai House »  Susa Ecology Campsite

Up early and out of the campsite and into the historical city of Matsue. Parked at department store car park, had an ice cream and headed into the castle. Walked round the original castle and enjoyed views of city from top. Walked through lovely streets from castle to Lafcadio Hearn museum where we found out how interesting this Englishman was. Not interesting enough to pay to visit his residence next door though. Up the street to a fantastic noodle restaurant for lunch and then next door to a Samurai house. Seen one seen them all and we've seen more than one! Back to the car via the ice cream lady again. Drove out of Matsue along a rough Shinji Lake which looked very impressive. Arrived after dark in the region of a campsite I'd spotted on an atlas in a convencience store we'd stopped at. Owners in their pajamas when we knocked at their private home but this didn't stop them. They got on their scooters and drove us up the hill to a superb campsite and opened it all up for us. Electricity, showers... the lot. Had dinner by candelight though as there were no lights over the tables - typical. Fell asleep listening to the surf breaking on the shore of the bay below us.
