  High Point:
The incredible expanse of sand at Tottori.
Low Point:
Spending over an hour looking for our campsite and then finding it metres away.
Itinerary:
Tottori Campsite »  Tottori Dunes »  Daisen »  Mori no Kuni Campsite

What a night! It poured and poured with rain and the wind was very strong. Both tents survived only just. Took ages to dry tents before we packed up and went out to walk on the dunes for a couple of hours. Absolutely fantastic. Immense landscape, rolling sea and sunny weather at last! Eventually piled into the car and drove onwards along the coast. Spotted the 1790m (5880ft) Daisen obscured by cloud unfortunately but drove up it anyway. Scenery on the way up quite beautiful in places. Drove to where our campsite should have been. Nothing. Found a local map directing us miles away. Drove there and eventually found a campsite deserted somewhere around 1400m I would guess. It was early afternoon and it was already cold. Decided not to camp there. Gave up looking for our site and headed into Yonago for a belated lunch only to find our campsite just down the road from where we first searched!! Aarrghh! Wierd, wierd place. Set up camp and headed back into Yonago for provisions. Back at campsite built a fire and lit it just as it started raining! Retreated to drink wine. No corkscrew! Went to local restaurant to get wine out of bottle. Rain stopped. Great campfire. Ended evening by playing quoits and mucking around on the adventure playground in pitch darkness.
